Music Review: one thing missing

there was a point in time, when i would put down my cash for practically any album made by a band who garnered comparisons to Ruins. and there is alot of that zany technically astounding power prog sound here. i loved this cd when it first came out and i played it solidly for a few years, but i rarely drag it off the shelf these days. it's a good record (esp. the first few tracks); but i find myself getting a bit bored with it and can never finish it all in one sitting. the music is more-than-competently played, and the talent of this group is obvious upon first listen, but i find it missing one key element: personality.
