Music Review: A must-have!

This is a great soundtrack, with both insturmentals and classic hits! A perfect addition to your cd collection.
1. Best Friends-Cute way to start off! Grade: B
2. I Like to Move it-I love this song!!!! Grade:A++
3. Hawaii Five-O-A Classic tv theme song, who knew? Grade:B
4. Boogie Wonderland-The best song on the whole album! Originally released in 1979 by Earth, Wind, and Fire featuring the Emotions. I am a huge Earth, Wind, and Fire fan so this is definetly a treat! Grade: A++++
5. Whacked Out Conspiracy-Cute and cutely, boys. Cute and cutely. Gotta love the penguins! Grade:A-
6. Chariots of fire-The scene with this song, Alex, and Marty is classic! Grade: A
7. Stayin' Alive-The ultimate party song! You cannot deny yourself, you just want to get up and dance! Grade: A
8. Zoosters Breakout-I don't remember where this song is in the movie, but I like the musical arraignment. Grade: B+
9. Born Free-Nice, but I like the version with the singing penguins during the opening credits. Grade: B-
10. The Foosa Attack-Very dramatic, every movie has got to have some like that! Grade: B+
11. Beacon of Liberty-Another dramatic song, "You're on the Jersey side!" Funny! Grade: A-
12. What A Wonderful World- This song always makes me cry! It's so sweet! Thank you Louis Armstrong! Grade: A
Description of Madagascar
Madagascar SoundtrackMost of the older songs included on the soundtrack to this animated feature are so well-known that they border on well-worn (Vangelis' Chariots of Fire theme has to be one of the most reused pieces of 20th-century music ever) but their feel-good quotient is also hard to deny. (Earth, Wind & Fire's "Boogie Wonderland" again? Sure, bring it on!) Still, it's hard not to wish the brains behind this CD had included snippets from the movie, considering it features the vocal talents of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, and David Schwimmer. (One of the soundtrack's draws is a cover of Reel 2 Real's early ?90s hit "I Like to Move It" by Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G), who voices one of the characters. The track could well turn into the kind of kiddie hit inescapable at the coolest birthday party this year. The other big draw is "Best Friends," a catchy tune halfway between the Beach Boys and Belle & Sebastian that shows that composer Hans Zimmer can do lighthearted whimsy when needed. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
