Music Reviews of Shenanigans

Music Review: Shenanigans rocks!
Rating: 5 Stars

Green Day is by far the best punk/rock/ska band out there. They have been around for 13 years and they have never disappointed their fans with one of their albums. BJ(Billie Joe) writes excellent songs for the fans. Songs like "Ha Ha Youre Dead" keep us satisfied with Green Day. The whole album is just great! Green Day is practically spoiling the fans! I mean, they really dont wait long to release records! They are already in the studio recording another! Well, if you've never heard of Green Day and you wanna hear them, I guarentee that you'll love this cd. Their two covers "Outsider" by the Ramones and "Tired of Waiting" by the Kinks are great too!

Music Review: Green Day will always kick a**
Rating: 4 Stars

Alright i dont care who says green day has changed there sound. Green Day hasnt changed a single thing. They are making new music, and thankfully it doesnt sound the same as all there other stuff. This CD is really good cause it has some of there hard stuff mixed with some soft stuff. "Ha Ha Your Dead" and "Desensitized" are the BEST songs on this CD. Ha ha your dead is one of there funniest songs ever and its sooo true too. I think anyone and everyone should give this CD a listening to. Green Day is the BEST live band ever. They put of the best show and its never boring. I sware to anyone that if you ever go to a Green Day concert you will never regret it.

Music Review: As Good as a Regular Album? YES!!!
Rating: 5 Stars

While this is in fact a collection of Green Day's B-sides, rarities, and covers, it isn't. Such collections can be sketchy and hit and miss at best. This however is most certainly not. The songs here are all strong and fit suprisingly well together. I'd compare it to a really unified mix-tape. Remember the rules of High Fidelity, start of great (Suffocate) and then step it up a notch (Desesitized), then take it down a notch (You Lied) so as not to peak to early, and I assume the rule is work towards a low point, but great nonetheless (I wanna be on TV) and then gradually climb towards the mind blowing finale (Ha Ha You're Dead). Yeah excellent work, not ephemera at all.

Music Review: God it's hard to spell Shenanigans
Rating: 5 Stars

"Shenanigans" is the perfect follow-up to "International Superhits". While the latter contained frequently played radio hits, "Shenanigans" contains rarities and oddities that are nonetheless musically sound. I was also very impressed with Green Day's ability to create audio masterpieces, by which I mean songs making fun of dead people. (This was the theme of Celine Dion's entire third album.) "Shenanigans" has varied musical styles and flavors, which leaves the listener wondering, "Is this really Green Day?", and also, "What the hell is a 'Green Day'." All in all, a very solid album.

Music Review: Chill out, kids.

I'll be honest: I think American Idiot is one of the most plastic-wrapped, sellable albums ever made, and I hate it. Shenanigans is just about the only reason I'll still own up to being a Green Day fan: I rarely skip a track because even when they're doing covers of songs I've heard about a million times, they manage to pull it off with a gritty punk sound that they owned before Billie Joe started wearing makeup and ripping apart a government he barely understands.

So if you like American Idiot, don't buy this. But if you miss old Green Day and their obnoxious garage noises, this should definitely be on your wish list.
