Music Reviews of Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Music Review: Go Stockard Channing!
Rating: 4 Stars

"There Are Worse Things I Could Do" is my favorite part of the film and the soundtrack. Stockard Channing brings so much character into this performance and she steals the film. On a technical level, this is a good sountrack, though the chronological order of the songs is a mess. I simply program the disc to my own preferences. The songs have stood the test of time and sound as vibrant and catchy as ever. This is a film and soundtrack that has grown on me with time, and I seem to enjoy it more each time I see or hear it.

Music Review: Several Weak Tracks
Rating: 4 Stars

The only thing holding this album back from being consistentatly a 5 star critic's favorite is the fact that it contains several weak tracks, and the title song Grease is possibly the only legitimate song that will bring back nostalgia for those that liked the movie and the singing in the musical. I always thought they were stuck in the 50s, but they've updated it to like the 70s or maybe even 90s, but still not modern enough for my tastes. The music is well crafted filler to a classic movie that will only date with time.

Music Review: A silly but fun musical
Rating: 3 Stars

If there is one thing that truly frustrates a Broadway fanatic like myself, it is the success of Grease. With many better shows out there, this is the one that gets performed every time you want to make an easy buck. However, if you don't mind a very light musical, this is the version to buy. I made the mistake of purchasing the Tommy Tune remake and it is AWFUL. John Travolta when he was young and thin is a thing to hear, as he plays this part with great skill, and the rest are good enough not to pull it down.

Music Review: 1950's Energy
Rating: 5 Stars

Excellent movie soundtrack, full of fun, sing along songs. Everybody's familiar with "You're The One That I Want", "Greased Lightning", "Summer Nights", and "Hopelessly Devoted To You", but don't overlook other gems such as Sha-Na-Na's "Those Magic Changes" and "Born To Hand Jive", as well as "The Worst Thing I Can Do" and "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee" done by Stockard Channing. This is a must for any film music lover's collection.

Music Review: The Best CD Ever
Rating: 5 Stars

WHILE ME I THINK THAT THE MOVIE AND THE CD IS THE MOST FUNNIEST AND MOST INTERSTING TO WATCH AND TO LISTEN. I ALMOST WATCH THAT MOVIE EVER DAY, GREASE IT'S A MOVIE THAT WILL NEVER FADE AWAY. BACK WHEN I WAS BORN I USE TO WATCH IT AND STILL WATCH IT NOW SO IF YOU THINKING ABOUT BUING IT DON'T THINK THAT LONG CUZ YOUR WASTING YOUR TIME ON AN EXCITING MOVIE. ALSO THINKING ABOUT BUING THE CD DON'T THINK THAT LONG BECAUSE THE MUSIC YOUR GOING TO LOVE I MEAN LOVE IT. IT'S THE BEST AND IT'LL STAY THE BEST
