Music Reviews of The Young and the Hopeless

Music Review: Cesspit
Rating: 1 Stars

Hypocrites have never been favourites of mine, nor fully grown men with metal protruding out of their face. Or even men with spiked, wonderfully colourful hair obviously assembled by some form of parrot, or exotic bird. The fact that these little jerk-offs are spreading their diseased ramble supposedly music, is frankly quite disheartening.

I say hypocrites because Good Charlotte obviously have a hideous acrimony concerning money, or more so people with money. Which the last time I checked was...em...YOU. Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, well you should know my dense little friends, why criticize when your just as stinking rich. The video is fantastic, from my viewpoint, for those who haven't had the privilege of watching the Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous video I'll briefly run you through it. Helicopters and police sirens are zooming around a house where Good Old Charlotte are playing their song, this is understandable though, OF COURSE they have no choice but to arrest such vile ear drum malice `music' that GC are gaily belting out. The best moment though is the court room scene, how it makes me laugh. Here you have a group of completely rounded-off social misfits ALL in the same room. When does that ever happen, APART from a GC concert of course, where all sorts of mischievous sprite worshipping sheep wander aimlessly...until of course they find a large arena full of other sprite worshipping sheep. The faces on the retarded members are all doom and gloom, just waiting for the judge to give them 10 years for assault and manslaughter of one poor, unassuming ear drum.

Other `smash hits' from the juxtaposed album that is The Young & Hopeless (title seemingly more autobiographical than the obsessive fiction it really is) such as The Anthem, precisely the same song as the other 13 on this plastic disc (NOT an album) with altering lyrics, which are quite obviously well thought out to generate as much money as possible (aiming at the mass public who hate rich people). The Day That I Die will indeed be a fine day, and when you turn in your grave just remember DON'T give ANY money or inheritance to relatives, because hell, who wants to be rich. Emotionless is precisely what this album is, capped off by the slaughter-torture of no. 13, `no emotion' or `no feeling' is picked off perfectly by this album, along with grandiose `no thought' just to add to this already cumbersome piece (...).

Maybe that's harsh.

Who am I kidding, this is one cesspit of an album.

Music Review: One of the Best CD's in the World!
Rating: 5 Stars

I'm a HUGE fan of GC, and out of both their CD's, this is the best! here's my rating for each individual (sp?) song:
1. A New Beginning - Pretty good for an instrumental...4/5
2. The Anthem - Definitely shows how I've felt bout jr. high (I;m not in high school yet...next year tho!) i definitely give it a 5/5!
3. Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous - I absolutely love this song and agree with it completely, celebs complain way too much! 5/5
4. Wondering - I was surprised when I found out that this was about Ca$hdogg! It sounds like a sweet love song, which is why it really surprised me when I found out its about Benji & Joel;s dog! 5/5
5. Story of My Old Man - Awesome song! obviously about Benji & Joel's dad, but unlike Emotionless, is made into a very upbeat song, 4.5/5
6. Girls and Boys - Definitely the most popular song on the album, hilarious video for it (old people w/ mohawks, how can that not be funny?!) 5/5
7. My Bloody Valentine - COOLEST SONG EVER! I absolutely love this song! whenever I;m in a sad mood, for some reason this song always makes me happy again! 10/5!
8. Hold On - I absolutely LOVE this song, because I can relate to it so well, it helped me get thru a very hard part of my life that I just got out of. And the video for it is amazing! 200/5!!!
9. Riot Girl - Love this song, almost describes me (except that I don't have tattoo's, but I will!) and just change Christina to Cara, and you've got a song dedacated (sp?) to yours truly! 5/5!
10. Say Anything - I used to be really annoyed by this song, but now I absolutely love it! "I used to know the sound/ Of a smile/In your voice," fit me better than anything these past few months 5/5
11. Day That I Die - awesome song, kinda odd to have this on the same album as Hold On though, but i still love it all the same! 4.5/5
12. The Young and the Hopeless - awesome song! one of my favorites "It's me against this world/And I don't care" definitely fits me! 5/5
13. Emotionless - very slow song, but an awesome song! the friend that initally had me listen to this album skipped this song, and I had asked her why and she sayed that it's too "depressing". She didn't read into the song, all she did was judge by the speed mainly. 5/5
14. Movin' On - AWESOME SONG! shows that even though they've been through hard times, they're not going to dwell on them, they just move on. something that's hard for me, but this song is really helping me to. 5/5!

Music Review: Great 4 Stars

This is a great followup album by the GC boys, but not as good as their first one. I'm not sure why though, I just found their old one a bit more catchy overall, but this CD plays really well. It's one of the few CDs that I own that I can listen to all the way through without skipping as I usually do!

Some of the lyrics are a little cliche as I will agree with some others who have said that, but that's what makes GC good, coz they take simple lyrics, chuck in some good beats and tunes and come off with really catchy work. That's what I like about 'em.

A NEW BEGINNING: good start to the album, a bit boring after too many listens though.

THE ANTHEM: awesome and one u can really go crazy with.

LIFESTYLES OF THE R + F: a real hit but i don't like it very much. the theme explored is good though. one to think about.

WONDERING: not one of my faves but kool song.

THE STORY OF MY OLD MAN: this one stood out 4 me when i first bought this cd. now it gets a bit old.

GIRLS AND BOYS: ok but lyrics are a bit cliche in this one.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE: a bit weird but great melody. love it.

HOLD ON: one of my faves. nice tune. i can relate to it too.

RIOT GIRL: really funky. most girls can relate to that as well.

SAY ANYTHING: i like this one. good song and tune.

THE DAY THAT I DIE: sad song but this one but really makes u think a lot. suicide isn't worth it people.

THE YOUNG AND THE HOPELESS: sums up a lot of what these guys feel and a lot of what teens are going through as well. nice beats too.

EMOTIONLESS: really sad song but easy to listen to. another one to think about deeply.

MOVING ON: nice end to the album. rounds the topics of the songs off well. gets a bit repetitive at times though.

Overall, I think the guys did an excellent job of their 2nd album, but they certainly changed their style a bit. But obviously that was bound to happen coz they are older now, but they've still come up with the goods. Surely something a lot of teens can relate to. Not too heavy, not too light, something for anyone and anywhere. Chuck it on if u haven't had a listen. You may be pleasantly surprised.

A word of warning: If you loved their first album, don't expect something exactly alike, coz it's similar but a bit more mature, but not much!

Music Review: One of the best CD's I own
Rating: 5 Stars

The Young And The Hopeless is one of the best CDs I have in my collection... Here's how I rate each and every song...

A New Beginning: 3/5
This isn't really a song, just an interlude to the "new" Good Charlotte, no words, just insturments...

The Anthem: 5/5
One of my favorite on the CD, the beginning is the best... The bands second single off the CD, you'll most likely buy the CD for this song, very catchy.

Lifestyles Of The Rich And The Famous: 3/5
Good Song, but I'm wore down on it because it has been played so damn much on the radio... The first single off the CD...

Wondering: 4/5
This song is good at first, but the more you listen to it, the more you're like "SHUT UP, JOEL"... It gets annoying fast... But still, it's a good song.

The Story Of My Old Man: 5/5
This is one of the coolest songs on the CD, it starts off fast and then slows down, then picks up... Very unpredictable... NICE!

Girls And Boys: 5/5
My 2nd favorite song, the fourth single of the CD... It makes sense too... This is a sure fire sign to get this album... It's awesome!

My Bloody Valentine: 10/5
This, is officially the reason to go and BUY THIS CD, they blew me away with this one, it's the best, THIS SHOULD'VE BEEN THE NEXT SINGLE... Not 'The Anthem', Not 'Young & The Hopeless', Not 'Girls And Boys', THIS ONE, one of the best songs I've ever heard, it gives me chills it's so damn good, BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM, buy this CD!!!

Hold On: 4/5
An Anti-Suicide song, slow, but meaniful...

Riot Girl: 5/5
A story about a attituide-bound girlfriend, I like it, so I'm sure you will, this was supposed to be a single, but I guess they changed their mind. Oh well... It's good...

Say Anything: 5/5
A breakup song... It talks about how he doesn't want them to stop being friends, it is a great song to jam to after a breakup

The Day That I Die: 5/5
Just listen to it... It's Benji's turn, baby...

The Young And The Hopeless: 4/5

The 3rd single, not ALL that great, but it's good... It tells of how they grew up...

Emotionless: 5/5
A song about living without their dad and their struggles, a very sad song... It shows Good Charlotte CAN write beautiful songs... One of the best..

Movin' On: 5/5
The perfect ending of an album, great song...

And there you go, this is like... I think the best album I have, I listen to it EVERYDAY... So please, do yourself a favor and go buy it... you won't regret it...

Music Review: This is NOT punk, and this is NOT music
Rating: 1 Stars

Okay, so I'm a misfit 14 year old girl. I dye my hair green. In fact, it's been many rainbow colours. Now what music do I listen to? I listen to the Partisans, UK Subs, Germs, Subhumans, Exploited, Varukers, Devotchkas, Casualties, Unseen, Sham 69, Black Flag, Cockney Rejects, Circle Jerks, Social Distortion, X-Ray Spex, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, etc. These are REAL punk rock bands, the ones that started it all. I highly doubt that ANY of you loser GC fans have heard of any of those bands, and I love to laugh at you in your bewildering ignorance. GC has no clue what punk rock even is. Benji says that he'd beat up anyone who says he's not punk. Ooh, that's so hardcore! *giggle* Gag me. If you are punk, you don't need to say it. By your attitude, the way you live, and the way you act, people know you are a punk. All these 12 year olds hear GC, go to Hot Topic the next day, blow tons of money on a whole new "punk rawk" wardrobe (give me a break!) and then claim to be "rebelling." What reason do they have to rebel? Back in 1977, punks were outcasts who rebelled against fashion, society, anything they could rebel against; because they were experiencing exploitation (am I using too big words for you?) and pure frustration. They ripped their clothing, attached them with safety pins, wore bondage items on their clothing, for the pure shock factor. Nowadays, there is nothing rebellious about listening to Top 40 "music" and going out to purposely buy clothes to make you appear more punk. That is just clueless, and it makes me angry that people consider GC, Avril and the like punk rock. Punk is NOT popular. Darby Crash, Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Glenn Danzig, Wattie Buchan were all misfits, they were not well-liked. So now, you tell me, how GC could possibly qualify as punk in the very least, but trust me, I won't buy into it. EVER. If you are a true punk rocker, you won't be well liked. You will be an outcast. But that's the beauty of it, the ability to be different from society. Screw society. That's what punk rock is all about. That's where it began.
Listen to the bands I listed above and stay TRUE to punk rock! As Lower Class Brats said, "Real punk is an endangered species."
Hopefully this review will make you think a little bit, because people need to free their minds. Also, how could GC be anarchist if they are involved with MTV, involved with the government? OXYMORON! MTV - step into the brainwash system.
Kthxby. =D
