All their early singles -- mostly covers of rockabilly and R&B nuggets by the likes of Charlie Feathers, Jimmy Reed, and Johnny Otis and originally released by a variety of independent labels -- are present and accounted for. This includes their first, "Three Time Loser" (Sugar Ditch), which was issued in a limited edition of 500 and sold out in three weeks, according to the liner notes provided by band founder Monsieur Jeffrey Evans. As an incentive for longtime fans, the collection features seven previously unreleased cuts and alternate takes, capped off by two live selections, the Collins Kids' "Whistle Bait," recorded at Los Angeles' KXLU, and Slim Harpo's "Shake Your Hips," recorded at Chicago's Lounge Ax.Rock CDs |
