Canadian Music Store Music Reviews of The Chesterfield Shows 1940-1941: YesterthoughtsMusic Review: More Please!
I agree with the previous reviewer in that I hope that some day, someone, dusts all those 16" V disks and wire recordings off and compiles a box set of radio broadcasts of not only Glenn Miller, but Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Charlie Spivak, Cugat, Desi Arnaz (yes, he had a radio show called "Tropical Rythms" if I'm not mistaken, that was on the air in the late 40's just before he and Lucy started I Love Lucy) and many more. There were so many swing orchestras that were on the radio back then, it's like a step back in time to put one of these disks on and close your eyes and just step back. On some that I have, you can even hear the people in the background talking, dishes clinking if they were broadcasting from a bar - GREAT STUFF, WE WANT MORE PLEASE!!
