Music Review: it's not deep purple, thank god

this album was released at the time of the fusion jazz crossover. it's way more funky than deep purple. i am a purple fan, second generation, but the other solo projects by ex-purple mates are just imitations of the real thing. this album is all about the late 70's rock- funk. you have to develop a taste if it's your first glenn hughes album. his voice has great range and the band is very rhythmic. it's all about the groove.

Description of Play Me Out
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the 1977 debut solo album from the Deep Purple/Trapeze member and Rock icon. Far removed from the Hard Rock of Purple, Glenn showcased his incredible vocal range over a more soulful collection of material - and the album received several rave reviews in the music press at the time. Glenn always wanted his first LP to be available again though, and co- operated on this re-release fully - writing notes and contributing four unissued bonus tracks, plus an unreleased single A-side. It has been many years since it first reappeared on CD, so there is a lot of demand for this reissue.
