Jimmy Webb is one of the 20th centuries best popular songwriters. His talent demands comparison with Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc.
His ability to coin a phrase that relates to his listeners is uncannily touching. It is also the mark of genius.
Yet, sometimes, a great thought, or a great song can get overlooked because of how it is presented. And, an undeserving thought can be given unwarranted influence because of the effectiveness of it`s presentation.
