Music Review: Thoughtful recording, but not on Period Instruments.

This is just a quick FYI to any potential buyer or listener (especially those fond of HIP), this recording is not on period instruments. The cover artwork is quite deceiving.

On a positive note, the interpretations of the works by Fantini are unique by adding percussive drums. Whether or not his trumpet sonatas and balletti were intended with such accompaniment, the chance to hear it here is exceptional and intriguing.

The ensemble also performs rarely performed composers like Stachowicz and Seixas.

This is all-around a unique recording.
