Description of George Antheil: The Complete Works for String Quartet
This landmark CD represents the first-ever complete compilation of string quartet works by American composer George Antheil (1900-1959). Each of these works was composed during a different stylistic era in Antheil's development, and a great deal of historical research was conducted prior to the recording sessions in order to closely match the composer's original intentions. The result is a tour through 20th century music history that will sound both familiar and unfamiliar to concert-goers.
