I read a review of this CD in a magazine and thought I'd check it out. I put it in my CD player and was instantly blown away. Great vocals and melodies. The melodies take a few spins before they're recognizable which makes for repeat listens. There isn't a bad song on this CD. There isn't anything on here that you probably haven't heard before, but The Funeral Pyre sound like they're attacking these songs and not going through the motions.

If you like your death metal brutal with a slight touch of melody, this is the CD for you!

Description of Nature of Betrayal

Channeling melodic death metal and Norwegian black metal alike, LA's "" takes on the two legendary genres in what has to be billed as a welcome addition to LA's crowded extreme music scene. Locking in over 100 shows throughout 2006 alone in support of the band's second full length album, The Nature of Betrayal, THE FUNERAL PYRE is down and dirty, do-it yourself metal for the common man. Mixing haunting Swedish-style melody with grim blackened voices and swirling, ethereal keyboard, THE FUNERAL PYRE might best be described as a modern conglomeration of black and death metal.
