Music Review: Listen to the second disc first

The second disc with the two concerti is wonderful. Both pianists are unknowns (to me, anyway), but if I listened with my eyes closed and didn't read the notes, I'd have guessed the artist for both was Kissen. I think it's a very rare and most satisfying rendition of these two pieces, which deserve to be far more popular than they are.

The first disc is not quite as great or rare but still consists of good solid renditions of Chopin's more popular pieces. One disconcerting feature, though is that the very last track on that disc, viz., the Etude No. 3, ends before the piece is over and is not continued on the second disc. It fades out abruptly before it is complete, kind of like what happens when the radio DJ miscalculates and has to stop a piece before completion to do the news or station ID.

Neither the disc nor Amazon specify DDD or ADD, but the sound quality is mostly good. Nevertheless, the first chords of the first concerto sound a little muddy. I'd guess the disc is DDD, but I could be wrong, or it could be mixed ADD and DDD.
