Music Review: Get the three volumes...
Rating: 5 Stars
..and you'll have -all- the 'old' Freddy King Stuff. By the time you're visiting here, there simply is no reason not to. Among these tunes are the riffs that played a major part in a developing Clapton, and any other bluesman to come along from the early 60's on. Freddy King instrumentals are the template for the original surf instrumentals. Singing with a high-pitched, but still very full-bodied tone, King's guitar fame has overshadowed the fact that he was one of blues' greatest singers. Although the completeness of these cds requires the inclusion of a couple of mistaken attempts to jump on commercial trends, they are all performed with soul, and should be heard.
