Music Review: Enjoyable for babies AND parents

We bought this CD of lullabies based on the reviews and received several other lullaby CDs from friends as gifts. Of all the albums, this was the hands-down winner and has become the staple of our nap and bedtime routine.
Initially, we started playing music for naptime only, and varied the CDs, but we noticed that this CD seemed to be most effective at lulling him to sleep, and we now use this for all naps and many bedtimes. My son will ask for this CD if he's having trouble falling asleep at night- even at his most cranky, he is soothed and calmed, and he knows that the music helps him. Most surprising to me is that I've come to really love this CD myself- I was a little skeptical that it would be schmaltzy, but it's really quite charming and sweet. It's a testament to the arrangers that I still want to listen to it after hearing it multiple times a day for two years. I even find myself singing along to the songs sometimes! We are actually buying a second copy for our new baby's room- I have a feeling this will be a lifelong family favorite.
Reasons this CD works so well:
- Instrumental, no lyrics- we found this to be very important in helping our son "shut down" his active toddler brain
- Tempo of songs similar enough so no jarring transitions
- Volume of songs even throughout
- Length of CD is just long enough to ensure the child is sleeping when the music ends
