Music Reviews of Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four SeasonsMusic Review: Precious Memories Rating: 5 Stars
All of these songs were from before my time. Even so, they were so much a part of the culture when I was growing up that I can claim them as my own. They are definitely dated as to style and the sound of the recordings but they are still great recordings.
Anyone who has a bit of nostalgia for the pop music of the 50s and 60s should love this one. It is thoroughly enjoyable.
Music Review: The best collection EVER! Rating: 5 Stars
This is the only place to now find all the classic Four Seasons material along with Frankie Valli's solo work on one single disc. Hit after hit is here with no filler. Frankie has become my favorite singer ever. Something about that falsetto just does it for me; totally amazing! To check out a couple examples of some great work, check out Save It For Me & Opus 17 (my all-time favorite!)
Music Review: could be better Rating: 3 Stars
The first few songs made for Veejay, Walk Like A Man, Candy Girl, Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry are very good. But the Phillips stuff is a mess. Rag Doll, Dawn, Save it For Me & Lets Hang On are mono & good stereo versions exist. Big Man In Town, Tell It To The Rain & Don't Think Twice - 3 great songs were omitted! Rhino sucks in my opinion. This is for the beginner fans only.
Music Review: Best of Collections Rarely This Good Rating: 5 Stars
After all these years it can be easy to forget how prolific these guys were with hit after hit. From 1 through 20, these are all great songs everyone from that era will remember vividly. In my opinion, there are only 2 ommissions that I would have included here... Marlena and Silence is Golden. Aside from those two, this is a very comprehensive compilation of their best hits.
Music Review: Real Good Sounds Rating: 5 Stars
This is a very good CD. After seeing a performance of Jersey Boys, I was going to buy there "Original Broadway Cast Recording" CD. I listened to clips of "Jersey Boys" and clips of this CD. I bought "Very Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons" because they sounded better to me. After all, they had the real sound. There was a reason this music dominated the juke boxes.
