Music Review: Feldman & Poulenard: The Finest Sopranos Ever?

While I'm not overly familiar with the different sopranos who have made classical music recordings, including especially due to the fact that I have no interest in opera, I would be astonished if even the seasoned opera connoisseur could dispute, after listening to this Couperin Motets CD, that both Feldman and Poulenard are both real Queens of female singing, singers one should pay homage to and bow down to.
I actually taught a class at my church on Couperin's music (the spirituality and exquisiteness of this CD is outstanding as well and merits my rating and many people purchasing it). One of my students, the church's organist and a contest-winning professional pianist, heard both this CD and another CD I had of additional Couperin motets and sacred music (not the famous Lecons de Tenebrae, which, long story, I find disappointing and overrated). I forget this exact 2nd CD, which I have since traded in, but there was a clear difference in the listening pleasure one got, the excellence of the singing, even just the beautiful femininity among other elements present in the singing; in other words a real drop off versus this CD featuring Feldman and Poulenard. This well-trained musician/student of mine at my church, could barely put up with listening to the other CD, after already having heard Feldman and Poulenard on this recording.
Unfortunately, Poulenard has apparently made very few recordings, whereas Feldman has made a considerable number. It's very possible this is Feldman's finest effort, including due to the material, but I'm only basing this opinion on the fact I also like very much her effort on "Purcell: Harmonia Sacra and Complete Organ Music" and didn't like the overall CD "Purcell: Airs and Songs from Orpheus Brittanicus", I believe it was, but that was mostly due to my not liking those Purcell songs in the first place. I admit I'm unfamiliar with any other of Feldman's recorded output.
But Feldman is easy to understand, feminine, truly puts meaning into her singing, and especially has so much tight control over different kinds of manifestation of her voice, that I think it might be hard to find a soprano, except again perhaps Poulenard, they blend together so well on this CD you almost wonder some times who's singing what line, with equal mastery of her voice as instrument, capable of multiple effects and sound, and utterly under the admirable control and mastery of the singer herself.
