Music Review: Corsten deserves 5, despite flaws

I've listened to this album over 2 dozen times in two-weeks, or most of it anyway. I'm nowhere close to tiring of it. Most of Corsten's songs are absolutely mind-blowing. They are energetic, catchy, unique, they just plain sound GOOD. They get better the more you listen to them and the more you do the more you appreciate Corsten's work. They are catchy enough the first time around that you can turn the music up and people will dance.
Great tracks: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 13
These tracks take time to build, but always just the right amount it seems. His songs each have enough individual variety to listen to the full song, despite lengths of 6 minutes or longer. Track 9, "Life," has an awesome new beat at around the 3:45 mark, though unfortunately I think it is too short-lived.
I especially love "Black Velvet" and "We belong," though all of these tracks are fantastic, including the U2 remix. 2, 3, 5, and 8 have vocals which I'm not sure if they appear in the previews, but they sound fantastic.
I don't care for these tracks: 4, 6, 7
I don't find anything here. They're just filler to me. #4 "Gabriella's Sky" is supposed to be his song about his young daughter, but I can't listen to it. It's almost there, but it ends up sounding amateur and repetitive. #6 "Radio Crash" comes on very strong, very fast, with a quick pulsing beat. It's too offensive for me, but will probably appease the hardcore trance and techno fans.
Ok tracks: 10, 11, 12
11 "Shanti" isn't bad, but it is too long. It is unique, which is refreshing. Takes some getting used to. "Visions of blue" is a slow, melodic piece, but it has its uses.
Overall a great album, worth buying the whole album for the good tracks alone, and you get extra stuff. Of course these are just my tastes, and maybe you'll like different tracks.
