Music Review: Global Beat That Can't Be Beat!

Absolutely killer Afro-funk by messenger, messiah, and martyr Fela Kuti. Considerd to be Africa's equivalent of James Brown, his work is ground zero for all that we now consider as World Music and its ilk. He had no equal during the 60's and 70's and spent most of the 80's incarcerated for his political beliefs. These two LP'S are among his finest, and should be required listening for anyone who thinks they know what funk is. Non-stop percolating rhythms, repetitive funk guitars, incessant percussion and punctuating horns keep an open fire going throughout the festivities as Fela takes turns vocalizing and playing horn and organ solos. If this s*#t doesn't get your ass moving, check your pulse, you're probably dead.
