Music reviews of Ruff Ryders' First LadyMusic Review: pretty tight for a first album
For all you Ruff Ryder fans, the quick-witted, smooth voiced rapper we know as Eve, has just come out with a new Album entitled "Ruff Ryders' First Lady Eve." This hot album contains songs featuring Drag-On, Beanie Siegal, CJ, Missy Elliot, The LOX, P.Killer Tracks, and the talented rapper, DMX. Although this has some rhythmic beats and powerful songs, Eve tends to gets repetitive in her rapping style, which is the downfall of her album. However, DMX, Drag-On, and the LOX definitely spice it up. Dmx appears in the songs "Scenario 2000" and "Dog Match," which highlight Eve's songs and add the quick flows that make his songs unique. "Stuck up" featuring Eve is a song about her desire for a strong, capable man. Missy sings the chorus in "Ain't got nodough," which has an upbeat rhythm, and contains an almost unusual high pitched voice that missy sings the chorus with. "Scenario 2000," definitely a winner, features DMX as well, along with Drag-On and the LOX, a noteworthy combination. "Let's talk about" also featuring Drag-On is positively a "ruff" song. The main theme shows the hard-core side of Eve. The skit "BM" Is about a man that abuses his wife and gives her no respect. A follow-up to the skit is the song "Love is blind," which is about her friend who was being abused but thought she was in love. "Heaven only knows" is about her tough adolescence and the hardships she faced growing up, especially without a father. One catchy part of the song was "Thought it wascute to flirt with older cats up in they face/Didn't have a daddy so I put a daddy in his space/My mommy was my shelter/But i broke free/Learnin that the streets was harder than I'd thought they'd be." Though some songs were original and contained good beats, "Let's talk about," featuring Drag-On and "Scenario 2000," featruingThe Lox, DMX, and Drag-On, were tied for first place. "Scenario 2000 contains a familiar beat off the Ryde or Die Vol.1 album-The song by jigga. The worst song on the album would be"Gotta Man," which seemingly had a chorus every 20 seconds, it gets old real quick. The music on this This album has similar and sometimes identical beats to Ryde or Die Vol. 1. This is good because the album is well known, but may not appeal to those who did not like the album. So if you liked ryde or die, you'll feel this album. Problems of the group are minimal or unkown, but Eve does talk about several issues concerning abusive men and her difficult adolescence. The production by Swizz Beatz is very notewrothy, as it was for the last album. Swizz Beatz once agin has come out with some new hits with similar appeal. About 9-10 of the songs were excellent out of the 18. Eve shows her real self through this album and may have further songs out soon with other groups on their album. This album received a 4 out of 5. Hopefully her next album will be better. But Eve, i give you mad props. You're a role model for us females and you are real fo sho. You know how to put it down, and you don't bite off of others, you got your own style, and that i highly appreciate. But personally, i like your hard-core songs like "Lets talk about" and "scenario 2000" much more than "heaven only knows" and soft songs.
