Music Review: brilliant

who could give this album anything less than, say, four stars? eve 6 is by far my favorite band and i'm insulted by what i see here. most of you get it, it seems, but then there are those on whom the brilliance of this album is lost. no, they're not a hardcore punk band, but they never have pretended to be. they're much more complicated than that. (i particularly appreciate the review from alambarric.) i like punk, but sometimes the hardcore stuff gets kind of old. you can listen to some guy hoarsely scream "NA NA NA I HATE THE GOVERNMENT AND THE CIA WANTS ME DEAD NA NA NA" only so many times, you know? but that's not why i'm writing this. i can understand where ThePaleKnight is coming from. no, i'm writing this in response to "bronwynblueeyes," who likes Here's to the Night, but goes on to say, and I quote, "The rest of the songs are stupid and make no sense. I wish that was (price)I could get back!!" maybe we should try learning a little basic grammar before we go writing nasty reviews, eh, sparky? yes, the songs can be difficult to understand, what with all them big words and all, but i would attribute that to the fact that they're just slightly deeper than your typical pop lyrics, which generally are something along the lines of a really cheesy ballad ("i love you, baby, like fish love being wet") or an equally cheesy dance song ("bop bop work your booty bop bop bop"). eve 6's sophomore album, like their self-titled debut, combines poetic lyrics and ever-changing sounds to create unique and innovative music that should not fail to impress alternative and pop-punk fans. one last thing: they rock live.
