Music Review: Great performance; problematic recording

Ian Tracey plays an excellent interpretation of these pieces. My main criticism concerns the sound engineering. The dynamic range is so wide that some sounds are almost inaudible unless you turn your volume up loud. After that, when a naturally loud section enters, you are blown away. This is especially apparent with the Menuet from the Suite Gothique. The wonderful acoustics of Liverpool Cathedral are evident, though; you can hear a three-dimensional sound effect. Despite some issues with the dynamic range, this is noteworthy recording in a magnificent cathedral.
