Music Review: Error - Anything but a mistake.

Little pieces of bands start appearing here and there, this new face in the mirror just one of a myriad of examples I can think of, and this was one of the bands I thought really deserved to keep living when everything was said and done. Unlike the name might imply, Error was one of those bands spawned from something else that needed to keep trekking on, and the five tracks they gave to listeners created a bit of buzz when it was first announced.
If only for a time, people were really excited by the prospect Error promised.
Listening to it that first time reminded me of a host of audio hornets swarming angrily about with instrumentation without that awful feeling of "ouchie," and I readily agree with the comparison suggested between them and a variant of Aphex Twin (an early sound, not the later variation). This was beautiful, too, and hearing it caused me to pause and wait for more because I even tasted a hit here. All the pieces seemed ready to fall into a pattern and this EP; well, five songs are not a lot of songs but they say something about a project. And then there was none.
Sad.
Grieving aside, the album is one that really merits a listen, is cheap for what it is, an is a breed of dinosaur that hasn't outlived its purpose. If nothing else it is a piece of the continual proof that nose can be made into a counter construct of the word, allowing music to come from the strangest of places. When listening I am reminded of the Converters of the world, taking noise and coining it into something hat says, "heads, we all win."
And perhaps that isn't for everyone but, really, what is?
