Music Review: Good Music, But Ultimately A Waste Of Time

These are decent performances of Grieg and Sibelius by Karajan. I will say that recordings like these are just a waste of time. There are far better quality recordings available of Grieg and Sibelius. This album in my opinion is only for the Sibelius/Grieg completist.

For more comprehensive recordings of Grieg look for the Neeme Jarvi/Gothenberg Symphony set on Deutsche Grammophon and the Ole Kristian Ruud/Bergen Philharmonic set on Bis. For Sibelius, look into the 15-CD set on Bis called "The Essential Sibelius" and Sir Colin Davis' recent LSO Live recordings.
