Music Review: Universal Music's exploitation at it's best

Universal is renowned for exploiting their artists. Take ABBA as a prime example. Universal have repackaged their catalogue so many times and flogged it as if it was 'new', and very successfully too. Successful for them, that is.
This compilation, however, is very different. For once we have a compilation that is not chronological, not restricted to just the singles or chart hits, and is not just another version of an already produced but differently named package.
Here, 47 tracks have been chosen for the way in which they complement each other. To have heard them all before, you would have to be a Springfield fanatic, and even if you were, you would still buy it just to have them all assembled so well in a 2 CD set.
If, on the other hand, you are only a casual fan of Dusty Springfield, you will be delighted when introduced to previously unheard tracks - tracks that show this true legend off at her best. I agree with a previous reviewer that there are a couple of songs that somewhat clash with the overall theme of balladry and love songs, but this is a small quibble.
Here you have, in my opinion, one of the best 2 CD sets of Dusty Springfield that money can buy. Thank you Universal Music for finally compiling a truly unique and harmonious group of great songs.
