Music reviews of First Come, First Served

Music Review: Dr. DOOOM is in the ROOOM!
Rating: 5 Stars

Dr. Dooom is a madman serial killing psychopathic rapper with a deep spooky voice stalking wannabe rappers, weak MTV and BET sellouts and dirty-ass ho's and anyone else whose path he crosses. And who better to start his spree with than the hated Dr. Octagon? He promptly plugs Octagon full of lead and jets the hospital for the dark underbelly of America where he visits superficial girls with weaves makin peanut butter sandwiches who are in dire need of some massengil and soap and who borrow tons of sugar for their kool aid.

Then he travels around, cuttin up weak mc's who can't rhyme, whose mixes arent right, whose vocals are too low whose cadence is off whose stage shows are weak who shoulda used better samples and he goes to mcdonalds with guts in his pockets throwin rats with mayonnaise at white women and all others who get in his way.

Dr. Dooom lives in an apartment stinkin with rotten flesh with neighbors askin 'whats that smell down there' and his killer sidekick jackie sayin, 'dont mind the smell from across the hall' and tellin them that he'll be by for a visit at midnight. 'Get that body and bag it, then get outta sight!' is what you hear after Dooom disposes of victim after victim, cuttin and shootin, burnin and eatin. Dr. Dooom stalking the night streets with a Dracula cape cannibalizing and videotaping his victims and feeding the carcasses to unsuspecting people and askin, 'how you like the meat flavor? Mmmm!'

Dooom goes to prison and makes all the hard criminals in there soft, they leave his cell wearin tight pants and lipstick and victoria's secret with skinned up knees. He leaves prison goin back to his killing ways and eatin apple jacks, blueberry pop tarts, drinkin chocolate milk, poppin flintstones vitamins, watching pornos as the cockroaches and mouses bounce to the delphonics and the fifth dimension.

Jackie asks Dooom 'what you want?' and Dooom responds in his maniacal voice, 'I want a kotex with whip cream!' Killin rappers left an right, makin them his b*tches sayin, 'rappers with panty-liners, rent cars with no recliners; I get ill, serve MCs with Massengil.' Body parts fillin his apartment, corpses piling up from coast to coast. 'Workin overtime like a janitor with stamina' he 'buried the last bodies in canada' and he's 'ridin some bronco like oj simpson, nervous smokin a pack a winstons' enterin buildings cuttin elevator cables, drillin people in the butt, burnin down nightclubs, wrappin up eyeballs in aluminum foil, he's goin into apartment lobbies 'pressin bells an bells an bells till you f*ckin let (him) in.'

Spooky music pervades, not scifi like Automator, Kurt is strictly horror soundtrack, spooky with beats an beats fitting the rhymes perfect makin a more interesting and fun album than that b*astard Octagon EVER made, makin tracks staying power and vivid imagery and sinister sounds takin over minds as DOOOM walks the streets, takin out EVERYONE, so watch out cause Dr. Dooom is in the Rooom walkin up the street with bare feet, eatin raw steak meat!

ALL songs great, best include, APT 223, Neighbors Next Door (watch out if you live in Dooom and Jackie's bldg), I Run Rap (prison tale), You live at home w/ yo Mom (you whack loser mc's, Dooom'll kill you!), Body Bags (self explan), Sidelines (Dooom in the projects) and No Chorus (F all the Laws!)

And if you dont like this album, then as Kool Keith says, 'You whack. F*ck you.'

Dr. Octagon RIP 1999.

Motion Man.

The problem with being recognized as a creative genius is that you've got to live up to it 24/7. Kool Keith was given such a mantle upon the release of the Dr. Octagonecologist album, and it's not something he seems happy about: on the first track of First Come, First Served, he--as Dr. Dooom--kills Octagon. It's the perfect move for Keith, and it sets the tone for the album, which is a mix of humorous tracks ("Neighbors Next Door," which asks you to imagine having Keith and Jacky Jasper living in the next apartment, and "You Live at Home with Your Mom") and songs on which Keith lays down the law ("No Chorus" and "Leave Me Alone"). Few MCs could hope to match Keith, but here--rapping over knocked-off Octagon grooves (produced with Kutmaster Kurt, they're still more innovative than most) and settling lots of personal scores--he sounds like he's just trying to get a bunch of ideas out of his head as quickly as possible. Still, there's an amazing EP's worth of material here, but it's spread over a full album. Minus the filler, Dooom might just be Octagon's better. --Randy Silver
