Music Review: Pretty Good Live CD

The first disc of this compilation is pretty amazing. Every song is very good and very fun to sing along with. There are some neat jams that often extend beyond what is done in the studio versions of the songs. There are many that go beyond the 7 minute mark. Extended versions of "Lightning" "Passerby" "Bullet Holes" are very strong as well as a more rocked-out version of "The General." There's lots of cool stuff here.
The second disc isn't quite as good. For some reason the sound quality of disc 2 is pretty poor, worse than disc 1. "Steeples" is amazing, especially towards the end of the song when the three singers are improvising simultaneously, but the rest of the second disc, with the exception of a few things, doesn't always match up. The "Eye of the Tiger" intro to "Mission" is pretty stupid.
Otherwise, this is a good compilation and casual listeners as well as intense Dispatch fans will like it a lot. Even though they're not nearly as good at jamming as other bands, their amazing vocals make up for it. This double album is a bargain. Most of Dispatch's best songs are on here, and you get a lot of music for a good price.
