Why We SingAs a lifetime fan and listener of Dionne Warwick recordings, I am qualified to make this statement. Her current release, "Why We Sing", is her best original content CD of the last 20 years. It's as good a work as anything from her musical heyday in the 1960's. Every song selection is top notch allowing Dionne's vocal gifts to shine and soar as the recording star that she is!
The songs transition divinely between various tempos and moods building upon each other till the grand finale. Dionne's patented brand of vocal seductress translates with great success to her approach to Gospel. The selected material sounds as if it were written just with her in mind to interrupt.
The title song is simply a standout as it is performed in harmony with her sister, Dee Dee. Anyone who's ever enjoyed a stirring Dionne performance or has a love of Gospel music should consider adding this to your collection. I'm sure you'll discover the love and sensitivity of a powerful vocalist singing praises.
