Music Review: Alarm Clock Music (WAKE THE HELL UP YO)

I can not believe how many negative reviews I have read about Dilated People's fourth CD, 20/20. WHOA! I don't want to say everybody is hating, I just think today, the current state of hip-hop is represented by wack cats like 50 Cent or T-pain, the all so powerful media and radio/video has blinding a few hip-hop heads from descent to classic hip-hop musik!
With that said, I truly enjoy Dilated Peoples 20/20. Each member has stayed consistent and pretty much true to the hip-hop game since they dropped their first album in 2000 (Expansion Team). Dilated Peoples stay showcasing dope beats and dope rhymes what the hell do yall hip-hop heads want, for real? And if anything they have stepped their game up and matured in my opinion.
The songs that stand out for me are Back Again (Can't go wrong with this joint cause they back, YO!)
You Can't Hide You Can't Hide (should have been on the Final Destination 3 Soundtrack, lol)
Alarm Clock Music (tite lyrics, catchy beat)
Olde English with Defari killing 4 by 4, 8 by 8, 20 by 20 bars (this track has a nice gangsta appeal, grimey soul clap beat, this track is one of my favorite, everyone shines lyrically on this track)
Kindness For Weakness with Talib Kweli (nice track, repeative chorus, lyrical content on point)
Another Sound Check is Evidence solo track (he honestly shines and holds the weight down for Dilated)
Rapid Transit with Krondon (another hot track, nice beat)
The Eyes Have It (this track is talking to their fan base, but since most of ya skip every track you won't know that! Dilated is for the PEOPLE)
FIREPOWER (another favorite, Rakaa solo track with classic reggae artist Capleton, lyrical content over your head, listen Rakaa is deep)
The One And Only (is DJ Babu's solo track where he gets a chance to showcase his DJ/production skills, it's nice to see a Babu track back on the album unlike Neighborhood Watch, remember the DJ is the backbone of hip-hop!) and
20/20 (another track with more tite lyrical content with The Alchemist on production).
This album has a nice concept throughout with Mr. Greentree skits here and there. All the guest appearances only add positive lyrical content to this great effort from one of LA's finest. There are an even amount of tracks with and without hooks. I must say Dilated fourth release is on point, I can say I can listen to this album all the way thru non-stop, it's simply good hip-hop music. I am also looking forward to seeing these cats in San Diego, CA this Tuesday 03/28 with Little Brother. I also saw them last year @ HOB in SD, CA with tite guest appearances from The Alchemist, Defari and Planet Asia. Bomb show hands down!
