Music reviews of Long Trip AloneMusic Review: THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME
My god, this is the only CD that I have said to myself that every song should be a single. This is THE BEST CD that came out of the music industry in like, forever! Love you Dierks Bentley! Wow, what a great CD! I always thought that "strike 3 and you are out!" This CD should be in the top 1 of every listing ever! I immediately bought the CD legally thru an internet store; I couldn't wait! I Will buy the actual CD at the store, fer surr! Ok, now to the reviews, Every Mile A Memory: what I like about Dierks music is that you can't really peg it as country only. I am very glad that he uses other than country tunes to convey his vision. That was a great song as I identify what he sings as I too have travelled across the country and saw places that reminded me of who I loved at that time. He visually captures the scenery as he goes along his trip. YOu can almost be there with him. Can I take a guess that he likes Bruce Springsteen? As when he says the freight train goes thru his dreams, Bruce says like a freight train running thru his head. Man, Dierks, is a great songwriter and the music sings right along with him, wow! I Can't Live It Down: This song at the very beginning slams you right in the face! The music is great, I knew at the beginning that we were going to hear about his humbling beginnings and his potential, which is non-stop. This song is more like, don't give up and your potential is exponential. We all love remember whens, I mean, remember where you came from, he remembers! Long Trip Alone: Wow, what a song! So, sad, but very, very powerful. My friend just recently came from Florida and I live in Buffalo, NY, a very long way and this song was like the theme song for my friend's trip. I have adopted that song for my friend as he had a long trip to go from Florida to Buffalo and it was not a simple trip. We are friends and the line, " Everybody stumbles sometimes and needs a hand to hold", well, suffice to say, my friend just got out of jail for being homeless, and I agreed for my friend to stay at my place to recoup and regroup. I would not be surprised that this would be a song for the Long Distance Dedication on that radio show that everyone has listened to, it would make me cry. This song also sounds like he is crying with his yaah, yaah, that was touching. Not every singer would show that much emotion on a song, but Dierks would, YEAH!!I tell you, what timing! This was meant for me to listen and buy this album. The next song, That Don't Make It Easy Loving Me: well, this song, after that sad song, this song just wants you to party and have a good time. Dierks, you are my hero now. This is where he sings about his bandmates, more on that later, but he sings about his commitment to his woman despite his travels and his songs, he is still true to his woman, women must be fainting all over Nashville! The Song, Soon As You Can: he mentions about California. That is a recurring area for him. I love California as well. This song is for guys who are not sure when to start pursuing your love. I know, you don't need no one to tell you, but, when Dierks tells you, I would listen. This next song, Track 6 , reminded me of Crimson and Clover, the music at least, the way that he describes his emotions through his metaphors in a song, a train and a river, man, that is classic, purely magic. The way he drags his words thru song, that puts the emphasis on his raw emotions about his love leaving but he can't stop it. When he sings, "no, you don't love me anymore", i right away think of that song, "no, you're wrong, you're very wrong!", that was from a musical, but anyway, I have felt that way when someone fell out of love and there is no way to change their mind. Well, I know Dierks has no trouble of finding another, but that ONE did matter. Track 7: He is not a "Honky tonk lost cause" but, maybe that was in the past. There is more than hope for him, he WILL win BEST ALBUM in every awards this year! He gives us all hope that there is "a one good shot" for us all. Love track 8: In The Heaven I'm Headed To: This song's music reminded me of that song from Vietnam era, something about "What's going On?" This song is also about hope as maybe I might go to heaven as well. I am not perfect, who is? Dierks gives me hope when there is no hope in this imperfect world. He is an inspirational singer that time will never forget. God has blessed him very well. Thank you. Dierks, I Love You! Track 9: WOW! Free and Easy! Love the "HUP" , you just have to put on your dancing shoes or boots and dance your heart away, deep voice too. It's like he is saying live life to the fullest with no regrets, have a ball. Wow, let me catch my breathe! Track 10: Band of Brothers: This is where he talks about singing at the beginning for "tips and alcohol". He also talks about the band and his idols in country music. It's his "3rd tour of duty" and yes, he is very much a veteran of country music. We will hear more of him in the times to come I am sure. Track 11: Prodigal Son, Heavenly song, that song at the very beginning, sounds like, the military or a native song. I'd bow down to this tune. The drums make this song very, very powerful! The song talks about how he was lost but now he is found. The best part of the song is that Dierks asks GOD for a "little place for me", he is not greedy. I would be proud to sing this in church. His mom must be very proud of him. The clapping at the end was very appropriate as I clapped cus it was the very last song and I just wanted to acknowledge that he gave a great performance on this album. This album outdoes any album, country or otherwise that is out there!
