Music Review: Effective mix

I am not sure if the reviewer whopanned this actually listened to it. While I would not call it "Spiritual" or "Meditative", I would definitely NOT write it off as just a Trance album. I will be a little more specific and do something I usually dont - a track by track breakdown.
1- Gurrupurung - Gondwana - This track starts with the didge and quickly has a beat laid down over it. The didge is dominant throughout the piece and gives it a distinctly different edge.
2- Any Way I Tell You - Ganga Giri - Honestly, probably my least favorite track on the album - the didge does seem a bitof an after thought and there is a fairly annoying chorus that sounds like little kids saying "Nya Nya Nya Nya". I usually skip it unless I am really in the mood.
3- Awowedas - Lost at Last - This is oneof my favorite tracks - fairly trancey, but the didge is prevalent through out as a great rythym instrument. Just because there isn't some "wild didge solo" doesn't mean you can't feel the didge influence. This is didge as accompanyment - not primary instrument. For that - Go get Dargin and Thomas performing on Didgeriduo.
4- Didge-Na-Gig - Global - Probably the most trance pieceon the album. Again, however, the didge plays a key role tothe make up of the track - in fact there is one point in the song where the didge is used as the bridge instrument to great effect.
5- Blue Labyrinth - Axis - This song is just plain groovy. It is a smooth beat track with some pretty wicked didge work about 2 minutes in - great rythym overlaid on top of the beat. Again - the didge is unmistakeable though not dominating the piece.
6 - Thunder - Andy Graham - I drove through a driving rainstorm on the way to the Black Rock desert with this track blaring in my car once and it was like someone was composing the soundtrack for the moment. A long empty high way - a long straight road down the middle of a desert valley - and occaissional shots of sunlight breaking through the clouds. That is what this song draws for me...
7 - Factory Farm - Didjworks - This is the most "didge dominant" track on the album. Didjworks is a New York street performer who also makes albums. His didjplaying is fantastic and he lightly sprinkles it with other instruments. To say this is "Trance" is really myopic in scope. This track introduced me to Didjworks and I have several albums now due to his masterful didge playing as evident on this track.
8 - Kemetic Song - Hayan - Yet another track that the didge dominates here. Unobtrusive drum beat and some synth violins mixed in here and there. This is another good song to drive or mellow out to.
9 - Entrance - si{cut}- There is just nothing trance about this track. It consists of what soundslikelight bongo playing, someother kind of percussion, and a didge drone. Not my favorite, but it is more of a background music piece for when the rain has just stopped and the birds are coming out to check things out. If you haven't guessed - music paints pictures for me.
Overall - a great album worth picking up.
