Music Review: Powerful Artistic Expression

Diamanda is rather notorious because of her gothic image. But when you read the linear notes, lyrics, and listen closely, you are able to feel her compassionate message and her war against the homophobic cowards.
This CD is recorded live in a cathedral, with various excerpts recited from the Old Testament concerning the laws of cleanliness, her powerful, moving voice is up front, with bare percussion and electronics in the background, concluding with her rendition of the classic spiritual "Let My People Go." If you or you know anyone who is suffering from AIDS or if you are surrounded by people who cannot accept your sexuality, this CD is priceless in the comfort it brings. Others will find you bizarre, so try to listen to it in private, at maximum volume of course.
