Music Review: Good background, ambient sound scape for quiet work

I did buy this CD here at amazon.com but as there are no tracks to listen to, I searched and found Emil Gagliardi's website for the Detaching the World CDs and listened to the tracks there. I don't like to buy music without listening to it first (or at least cuts). Reviews can be helpful, however, I liked the Scooby Doo movie and it got 13% "fresh" (good) on Rotten Tomatoes when it came out - I saw it with my hubby and we both were surprised that the reviewers didn't "get it" as it was just like an episode of the cartoon that we adored as kids. Reviewers may like different things than I do, so listening was a must.
I like this CD. I use at my work as I work in a lab with a lot of background white noise from ventilation hoods. I write a lot of reports, so while wearing headphones at my desk, I listen to this CD at a low level. I like the "non-tonal" quality of the music - what I mean is that it's not major, minor, or modal music (if you're a musician, you'll know what I'm saying). It's definitely ambient background music with colorful soundscapes.
While the music uses ambient guitars (not quite sure what that means completely), the music can be somewhat synthesizer sounding in spots. I think that's the nature of the instrumentation used and how the sound is manipulated perhaps post-recording.
I like the CD a lot. I put it on my mp3 player. I think it enhances my ability to relax and stay focused on my work. Or it reminds me to be mindful of staying on task and focused.
I don't use it for massage. It does provide a nice background for me to work.
