Music Review: Good background, "non-word" music, ambient music

I picked up a copyof Detaching the World Vol 2 here on amazon.com. Some of Emil Gagliardi's CDs in the Detaching the World vein don't have "sound clips" here, so I searched the internet, found his web site, and listened to samples for all the CDs. I don't like to buy music without experiencing some of it.
Music is very subjective. Some find head banging music relaxing. Do take my review with a grain of salt! Just because I like it, you might not. There are people who are crazy about the Pontiac Aztek and I sure don't like it at all.
I like Vol 2. I don't use it for massage. I have it on my mp3 player that I use at work. I work in a lab with a lot of white noise in the background and with a lot of report writing to do, vol 2 is a wonderful background element. It isn't distracting (usually) and it does provide a musical ambient soundscape which enhances my ability to be calmer and be more effective in doing my work.
Some of the tracks sound not like guitars. I don't think that's a bad thing. Some of the music is tonally smearing without a sense of "typical" Western or Eastern musical forms. The music is not modal, major or minor. It just "is". A few of the tracks have strong pizzicato / plucking tones. The track listing here has it appearing in one of the final tracks. It's a bit jarring to me which is why I gave this four stars. I think it sticks out a bit from the surrounding soundscape. That may have been the intention.
Two thumbs up to Emil Gagliardi for creating a lovely and changing soundscape that helps me focus and remain relaxed while working.
