Music Review: Phenomenal Way to End a Career Together

Yes, Delaney and Bonnie warmed all of our hearts with their incredibly joyful songs of enduring love, but sooner or later their relationship had to end. They are celebrities, after all. But through their ecstatic relationship they gave us some of the most joyful, inspring, and unique music to come out of that time period.
"D & B Together" is a last shout, an album of what they do best, riveting gospel-soul-rock, before they would both go on to take slightly less exuberant solo careers.
They are a duo that was meant to love and create music together. Their songs had an undeniable chemistry that could get a mummy out of its coffin humming and bopping and dancing. Delaney and Bonnie's albums should be prescribed anti-depressant medicine. Sure, they've got there sad times, like on this album, "I Know How it Feels to be Lonely" (arguably Bonnie's crowning moment in the duo, but their upbeat music (and even the sad ones) just make you feel so...so...good.

The last album Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett made together, this 1972 release boasted the usual superstar cast - Eric Clapton, Dave Mason, Billy Preston, Tina Turner, Steve Cropper, Leon Russell - and such highlights as the hit 'Only You Know and I Know', 'Groupie' (which the Carpenters made into a hit as Superstar), 'Wade in the River of Jordan', and 'Comin' Home'.
