Music Review: Great kids music! Not annoying!

My kids (boys, ages 2 and 5) love this recording so much. When I first put it on, they immediately started dancing and jumping all around the house, and kept this up for the entire CD! Now, "dancing with Debbie" (a phrase coined by my 2-year-old) is one of their standard preferred activities.

The songs are warm, fun, and varied, with nothing my kids find scary or boring. My 5-year-old is going through a knock-knock joke phase, so that song was a big hit. There are catchy tags throughout, and my 2-year old, who is learning to make bigger sentences, is using some of the phrases in conversation, now.

The recording quality is excellent and professionally done. Debbie's voice is very listenable even to an adult--so imporant, when a recording winds up in constant rotation, like this. Some of the songs reminded me of Sesame Street, Little Shop of Horrors, maybe even the Muppet Show.

There are a couple moments where there are crowds of children cheering, talking, and so on. Very wonderful pandemonium in the studio, I imagine!

Do I sound like I've listened to this a lot? Well, it's the kind of recording your kids want over and over. And over. And over!

My wife and I are dreaming some of the songs, now. Fortunately, it is relatively free from so much of the really annoying content that so much kids music has. It's much better to have our kids dancing with Debbie than watching TV, so we're all for it.

Anyhow, this is a great product, so go buy it, if you are looking for good kids music.

For what it's worth, we like Kipper and hate Barney.
