Music Review: wow, how Dino could SING !!!

Happy in Love/Dino - Like Never Before gives us all the songs from two of Dean Martin's record albums called Happy In Love and Dino-Like Never Before. The quality of the sound is absolutely excellent; and I like that they incorporated the record album artwork into the CD artwork. Great!
"Love Is All That Matters" starts the CD with Dean Martin singing at his very beat--and that's terrific! He croons this number but I do wish that they had left out that background chorus--Dino never needed any backup! However, that was the style at the time these recordings were made. Oh, well. "I Love The Way You Say Goodnight" has a very pretty melody and Dean Martin sings this with heart and soul--and those strings sound wonderful! There's also the very beautiful "All I Have To Give You Is My Love;" this ballad really sparkles when Dean Martin sings it. His excellent diction and his uncanny sense of timing make his performance even better; and this time the lush musical arrangement works very well for this ballad. In addition, there's Dean doing a great job on "Until You Love Someone;" "Until You Love Someone" has Dean's voice sounding like pure silk and that's quite all right by me!
"If I Should Love Again" is a most tender ballad that impresses me; I love it when Dean Martin sings this song and the brass is used to great advantage. The flute also works in well and Dean never misses a beat on "If I Should Love Again." "You Were Made For Love" stuns me with its beauty and it even has a fine catchy melody. "I'm Gonna Paper All My Walls With Your Love Letters" is quite a tune that Dean Martin sings to perfection--and beyond! Although the melody is quite upbeat not all the lyrics to the song are so happy. However, it seems to make no difference--Dean Martin sings this so well you almost forget that the song is about something less than a perfect romance.
"Second Chance" is a strong number with Dean crooning; he sings his heart and soul out to make this a very special number; and it's a definite highlight of this album. "'Til I Find You" is yet another splendid number that sparkles like silver and gold when Dean Martin delivers it so masterfully. I love that horn solo, too! Listen also for "Try Again;" this tune's lush arrangement is very well done and Dean Martin sings this wonderfully. Dean was born to sing ballads just like this one! "That's What I Like" puts Dean front and center--and that's excellent. The album ends strong with Dean Martin performing "One More Time." The music is very interesting and it grows on you pretty quickly; Dean sings this number with lots of feeling.
Overall, this twofer CD gives us a lot to like; and it's a must-have for Dean Martin fans. We get a lot of singles on this CD and there's not a dud on this CD.
