Music Review: Guter Sampler mit 70-Minuten Dead Can Dance

Wer von Dead can Dance nur eine CD haben möchte, dann ist diese sehr empfehlenswert: Lang (70 Min.), Dead can Dance haben ihre regulären Werke häufig auf 35 Minuten beschränkt. Eine eindrucksvolle Auswahl aus "Aion", "Dead Can Dance", "Within the Realm of a dying Sun", u.a. Sie sind auch in Deutschland sehr beliebt und geehrt. Steht bei manchen Gothic-Bands der Sound für Depression und Düsterheit und der Unfähigkeit, dem Leben ein paar gute Seiten abzugewinnen, so assoziiert "Dead Can Dance" eher die himmlischen und orgiastischen Spähren in okkultem Sound. Das Ehepaar Gerrard/Perry haben wirklich eine enorme Bandbreite an emotionalen Fächern, ihre Dramatik klingt nie aufgesetzt oder penetrant, die Texte sind manchmal in einer erfundenen Fantasiesprache. Wann gab es so eine würdevolle und erfolgreiche Darstellung von unaufdringlicher Dramaturgie seit ... ? Die Songs klingen mittelalterlich, vocalorientiert, dramatisch, ernst, sehr zeitaufwendig produziert. Man traut sich kaum einen Satz während der CD zu sprechen, um die Stimmung nicht zu untergraben. Warum auch nicht? Eine CD für besinnliche ernste Stunden, manchmal glaube ich mich in die naturelle Stimmung vergangener Jahrtausende zurückversetzt, die "Dead can Dance" scheinbar kannten. Dead can Dance waren so innovativ, positiv und originell, schade, daß sich das Paar getrennt hat. Anspieltip: Das mittelalterliche Saltorello, gut ist eigentlich jeder Track. Empfehlenswert von der Gruppe finde ich jede CD seit "Aion". Die Solowerke von Lisa Gerrard sind auch anschaffenswert. Ich wünschte, daß originelle Paar findet wieder zueinander. MFG Thomas Richter
