Music Review: Sunsets and Sushi = smelly fish

Sorry for the title but I was supremely disappointed in this EP.
Like most of the other reviewers, I am a big DCB fan. I came to be one very late in life, this year in fact. I became enamored with Illuminate, David's magnum opus. His deep love for God is very apparent in his magnificent lyrics and artful arrangements. I deeply admire his exquisite guitar work. Illuminate was my introduction to the DCB although I had heard his earlier works on the radio. I purchased The Lime CD, (yuck, but that's another story) Can You Hear Us and David's book: "Praise Habit: Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi" on a whim. I didn't realize S&S was a remix compilation until it was too late. My fault, I know. I was filling my shopping cart with everything Crowder and I just threw it in there.Ugh. My beloved Illuminate turned into a disco, techno pop remix. Everything that made that album so great had been stripped away and replaced with silly techno loops and computerized hand claps. Not my style, not my cup of tea. I'm 40 and although my musical tastes are pretty much in line with what the teens in my church listen to, I can't get past this. To me it's like drawing glasses and a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
Pretty strong condemnation I know. But it's not all bad.
There are 2 songs that I *do* actually like. "How Great" is a pretty interesting rendition and, they actually have an acoustic guitar in it! and "Stars" isn't too bad, either. They mutated the songs so much that I was actually surprised because they left the cello parts in!
