Music Review: Good Playing, Weak Lyrics

I bought this cd because it was only six bucks and it was one I had not seen in the Dave Mason files. I am one of those guys who thinks that Alone Together, his first album, is his best. I didn't have much hope for Split Coconut but it suprised me. It is a very good album when you don't want to think too hard to enjoy music. Let's face it, Mr. Mason is not the best of lyric writers, but he is one damn good guitar player. Good tone, nice little fills-- you can't stay mad at him for the so-so lyrics, and dig that tight, cooking band backing him up. Check it out, it's worth looking into.
