Music Reviews of Charlie & The Chocolate FactoryMusic Review: Pretty damn good! Rating: 4 Stars
If you have seen the movie, you might find the CD a little disappointing, but it's brilliant all the same. Some of my favorite parts in the movie where the music was really good didn't turn up in the CD, for example, the part of the boat ride in the tunnel. But other parts were really brilliant, like the music for the opening credits, which is wacky and weird and exciting. It conveys the feel of the factory perfectly. I really liked the soundtrack as a whole, but each individual track varied from saccharin family to heart-thumping excitement.
Music Review: FANTASTIC!!!!! GET IT! Rating: 5 Stars
If you like alternative, old school rock, Indian music, classical...Well, you name it, this CD ROCKS! Danny Elfman really busted loose on this one! When I saw the movie; which was really good, I knew before half the way through: I had to have this soundtrack. The style is varied enough in each song so as to keep the listener hooked...no matter how many times they listen; at first groovy, then industrial, mysterious then to booty-shakin good fun...give this a listen, if you haven't already. I'll be listening to this for years to come....
Music Review: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Rating: 4 Stars
The music in this version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is nothing short of classical Danny Elfman. My main problem is that too many people are comparing this version of the movie to the "original" with Gene Wilder. If you have not read the book then you would not know that this version is EXACTLY like the book. The first movie in fact was titled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, when the book was in fact titled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The real original here is the classic childrens novel by Roald Dahl.
Music Review: One of the Best! Rating: 5 Stars
I've been a Danny Elfman fan every since Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Not only did I absolutely LOVE the movie, but Elfman's score added so much to the film.
I really would have desired the music to be in movie order (instead of the catchy kid's tunes first). Danny does a wonderful job of different style for each kids song, August Gloop, Violet Beauregard, Veruca Salt, and Mike Teavee. Veruca's song being my fav of the 4.
I highly recommend this CD to anyone, even a newbie to Danny's Elfmans world.
Music Review: I Could Listen To "Main Titles" Over And Over... Rating: 5 Stars
This soundtrack is amazing. It's pretty much been stuck in my car CD player since the movie came out. "Main Titles" is the best composition that Elfman has ever done. I absolutely love the Oompa Loompa songs, they are so much fun. "Wheels In Motion" is another favorite along with "The Boat Arrives." And to top it all off, "Wonka's Welcome Song" will be stuck in your head for the rest of your life after you listen to it even one time. I highly recommend this soundtrack to anybody who loves Danny Elfman's music.
