Music Review: This man is sooooooo 4 Stars
This was a gift from my wife for Christmas, and although I was surprised (I had never mentioned I wanted it) I'm really glad she got it for me, cuz' this is pure comic genius. We both listened and watched it that night, the DVD is ok, nothing special, but the CD's had both of us on the verge of tears. The man has the best natural, effortless, poetic delivery I've seen since Richard Pryor. He can start talking about the smallest, dumbest, most simple situation, and go off on some ridiculous, hilarious tirade that will literally have you gasping for breath between laughter.Very few joke's miss, and when they do, he knows it, laughs it off with the crowd and moves on. He has incredible interaction with the crowd, and this is one of the few comics where if he does single you out of the crowd you are not going to get tortured or humiliated, your just going to be made laugh long and hard. Dane does have quite the potty mouth, so parents beware, though not as filthy as Eddie Murphy or Dave Attell, there are many f-bombs dropped and alot of sex talk, but it it so amazingly funny you just don't care how raunchy he gets.
Like I said earlier, the DVD is just a few of Dane's best (sort of) TV moments. The funny ones are Shorties Watchin' Shorties and the Unedited Comedy Central Bar Mitzvah Bash, extremely good writing and perfect delivery make these two well worth the watching. One of the lamest show's on TV is Crank Yankers, I can't stand this show, it's never funny, and unfortunately, Dane has a couple of spots on it and they too are very unfunny. There is also the Denis Leary roast which is alright, a few bright spots here and there. The real treat here are the two CD's, be sure and listen to it again a week later after the first hearing.....just as funny, if not more, because you are gonna catch a few of the things you missed the first time around.
My personal favorite of both CD's is when Dane talks about his first "oral" experience, he sets up the audience so perfectly and then just floors em' with the punchline, and even though its audio and not TV, you can tell the crowd was just in stitches. I'm telling you folks, this is an awesome pick-me-up after a long, hellish day at work and you just need to blow off some steam with some intense laughing, perfect remedy here, perfect!!
