Music Review: I "Second" the Dissenting Voice

Now it is several years later, and I still think this is a fair review. Why does everyone say it is unhelpful? You are hurting my rank! lol
OK, I gotta say, this is ridiculous. I've written 5 reviews, and with all but this one, people overwhelmingly indicate that my reviews are helpful. Why has the following review been voted "unhelpful"? because I think this album sucks? I'll say it again, this album sucks. Please read on and see what I wrote a few years ago, it is still true today. Just because you like these artists does not mean you will like this album!
I completely agree with everything the Dissenting Voice said, but lower his review by one star.
I saw/heard Lucy Kaplansky for the first time when she opened for Eddie from Ohio in Santa Cruz last year. My friends and I thought she was great. I had seen Dar Williams in Concord, NH a few years before, and my wife and I really liked her. So I thought this would be good album. Well, we both found it slow and dreary. It was a painful listening experience. We actually started laughing at times because we thought it was so bad. Quite frankly, I think it is a collection of poor renditions of good songs. Go ahead and listen to the clips, the REM one is an embarassment. The only reason I won't give it one star is because I've never seen anyone else do that. We've never even considered playing it again--I take that back, I suggested it once, and my wife just laughed.
What really fried me was that everytime I signed on to ... they kept "recommending" that I buy the album, even though I already had (from ...), and I rated it one star so they could "improve my recommendations." Go figure.
Pretty harsh, but I'm tired of seeing every cd on ... rated 4 or 5 stars. I just want to warn people who think that because they like some other cd by one of these three, that that doesn't mean they will like this one. Perhaps I'm just bitter because I tried to buy Dar tickets today, and they were sold out in one hour and forty mins--2 hours before I got there.
