Music Reviews of Company - A Musical Comedy (1970 Original Broadway Cast)Music Review: what's the fuss Rating: 2 Stars
I'm an avid fan of musical theatre and a college theatre major and, frankly I do not understand why people are so in love with this musical. I found it to be dated and a chore to listen to. While most performances are good there are a number of actors in this show who have voices that are almost painfull to listen to. They screech and cut through the rest of the voices. Sondheims other work i really enjoy and I found myself disappointed by this muscial that many call "genius." what am i missing?
Music Review: Bobby Baby Rating: 5 Stars
Company, in my opinion, is the greatest musical ever written. The music is incredible, and the book is perfect(something that made me detract a star from Follies). Dean Jones is superb, but ELAINE STRITCH RULES!!! She is AMAZING in Ladies Who Lunch. I have memorized most of the songs, including Being Alive and Another Hundred People. Another Hundred People is probably my favorite song, but Side by Side by Side is 2nd. BUY THIS CD! If not for the songs, just get it to hear Elaine Stritch. BUY IT!

Music Review: My First Sondheim Rating: 4 Stars
This was the first Sondheim album I ever had, and I got hooked.
My only complaint is that the late, great Larry Kert, who took over for Dean Jones who left the show shortly after it opened (so soon in fact that Kert was nominated for the Tony), isn't on the recording. Jones is fine but Kert was even better. And of course this includes the now legendary version of The Ladies Who Lunch sung (?) by Elaine Stritch. But the star of the recording is Sondheim. It's a brilliant score!

Company is one of my favorite musicals ever! It's funny, witty and a musical! I may not have seen the original cast perform, but the cast who performed it stayed true to the musical piece. So when I listen to the CD, I don't feel like I missed out a lot.. The music and lyrics are just hilarious! Listening to it keeps me "company" in traffic.. It really is very entertaining.
Not to mention, Stephen Sondheim is GOD!
