Music reviews of A Rush of Blood to the HeadMusic Review: A Complete Album With Unbelievable Potential To Become A Classic! Rating: 5 Stars
"Coldplay's too soft, coldplay is boring, coldplay is this and this and this and this." Give me a brake, most of you probably only listened to the album once or twice. I try to be fair but come on, you can judge music by how catchy it is or if it's easy to dance too. Their in the music industry to make music and the best at doing so earn my personal honour as favourite artists. Coldplay is one of my many favourite artists because they have the ability to calm someone down, they have unbelievable talent and they have the ablility to grab someone and just soak them into their music. I have two of their three albums and this is the better of the two. X&Y is also unbelievable but it's not as complete or lyricaly calming as Rush Of Blood To The Head. Let's start with a run through.
1.Politik- Starts of with a pounding piano riff and goes of with the vocals slow and dark. Chris uses his lower register in the majority of this song but goes high near the end. A very good song but it's not a song I can't get enough of. Very good lyrics writen for FEMA. Still a very good way to open the album. Gives an open door to the rest of the album and that's what an opener has to do. 8.5/10
2.In My Place- The bands first single. This has a great, simple opening riff with nice lyrics and no piano's (not that that's good) it's good for that song because it dosen't need it. Can get a little repetitive but still a great first single. What saves it is it's live performance, the song live is phenominal. 10/10 if the album one was this good. 9/10
3. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face- Very great song! Another less profile single compared to the other ones. Good acoustic guitar at the beginning. This is like "A Whisper" track 9 on this album but with a lower dynamics but it's flows more. Great song with Chris dominating. This is Chris' album. 9/10
4. The Scientist- Awesome song. Chris again does it on this song. Just him and his piano for most of it with Will on drums later in the song. Just a lovely, lovely song that many Coldplay fans will find their favourite. One of the more high profile singles. Chris' pitch to high and low is the highlight of the song. Awesome classic! 10/10
5. Clocks- Whether your a Coldplay fan or not! You HAVE either heard or love this song. This song dominated the 2003 Grammy's and is the highlight in terms of productivity on this album. Probably the best team effort of Coldplay on the album, possibly not the best song, but certainly one of the strongest and long lasting classics on this album. Classics tend to stay with you and that's exactly what Clocks does. 10/10
6. Daylight- This song rounds out the singles side of the album. If this was a vinyl record, this would start out side two. Good song, probably still the worst on the album but still good. 7/10
7. Green Eyes- Great acoustic love song. I wonder if Chris Martin was writing this about Gweneth Paltrow? This is Chris and Guy's song. If Coldplay were a duo they could still perform this song. Maybe "Chris and Guy: Tonite!" But back to the song, very nice song with calm and study vocals by Chris and nice chords by Guy Berryman. 9/10
8. Warning Sign- Words can't describe how good this song is. This is by far the best song Coldplay has ever done. This should have been released as a single so that the world not just the album owners would know the unbelievable beauty and talent this song has. The best song by Coldplay by far if maybe not for Amsterdam, which is also incredible. But the best part is the very end where Chris goes solo with his Thom Yorke'ish thing. Completly true Coldplay and never heard anything like it, especially in rock music. 10/10 I go as far over that as possible.
9. A Whisper- This should have been put past Daylight. I think this was put in the wrong spot on the album but it's a good song that is probably the second worst on the album. I personally think it's too simplistic but cool rocking guitar.
7.5/10
10. A Rush Of Blood To The Head- The albums title track. Most title tracks that aren't put as singles usually crumble but this is an exception. This is a darker Green Eyes but get used to it and it's a pretty good track. 8/10
11. Amsterdam- Closes the album with a bang! Brilliant, brilliant song which of all the Chris dominated ones, this is his best and his most dominant. Going low to high and with fantastic piano to back it up. Like "The Scientist" it has him and his piano for most of the song but Will comes in with banging drums to open the harder part but the best part is the first 3/4 of the song with just Chris and his piano. Fantastic song only bettered by Warning Sign. 10/10
Overall:10
I own a bunch of different albums of different styles. I own light brit music like U2, Radiohead and Coldplay. I own classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Deep Purple. I own new alternative rock like Green Day and Audioslave. I even own a Stevie Wonder album and like it. This is probably the best album to come out in the last 5 years. Green Day's-American Idiot is the only one that can come close. But these are two different kinds of music and Coldplay has probably came out with the best collection of songs (American Idiot is a concept album, not a collection.) Buy it!

Description of A Rush of Blood to the Head Coldplay Photos More from Coldplay Coldplay required a lifetime to make their wonderfully assured debut, Parachutes. But it took less than two years for the moody British quartet to deliver a masterful follow-up. As a band, Coldplay have advanced to a stage where they outshine nearly every one of their rivals in terms of imagination and emotional pull. A Rush of Blood to the Head is a soulful, exhilarating journey, moving from the cathartic rock of "Politik" to the hushed tones of "Green Eyes" without once breaking its mesmerizing spell. Singer Chris Martin takes his voice on soaring flights, reaching places only Jeff Buckley previously dared to go. And the music is nearly flawless, a persuasive cross between Pink Floyd and the Verve. Even if they haven't come up with another "Yellow," you would be hard-pressed to care. This is exquisite stuff. --Aidin Vaziri
