Music Review: Short, repeats itself, copies other Clint Eastwood scores

Clint Eastwood makes great movies, there's no doubt about that.
But his music is a hit and miss for me. His work on his film "Changeling" was extraordinary and I found it to be paced beautifully, containing wonderful and elegant themes that were tinged with both sadness and hope, which fueled the film and gave it an atmosphere. As a standalone experience it also works.
This isn't the case with Hereafter. This film score seems to have branched out from both "Changeling" and even "Gran Torino", taking the moods, instruments, and even hints of the themes.
As a result it is unoriginal and tedious, because I've heard it all before.
The songs are too short, causing the album to feel choppy with its constant moments of silence between tracks. It repeats itself; each song sounds similar to the previous, and before you know it the album is over and you'll feel like you didn't get anywhere. Some themes are used over and over again, and there are a small number of themes, which all start sounding the same.
Maybe Clint is just running out of compositional ideas. If he is, then maybe he needs to have another composer come in and work on his next film.
If this was truly his plan, to have the music sound like all his previous but to go no where, break no records, climb to no higher ground, then I'm sad.
Because Clint Eastwood is better then that.

Pros: Peaceful, moody, atmospheric score...though all too familiar
Cons: Copies previous Eastwood film scores, hard to grasp because it's choppy, feels like it is repeating itself
You might enjoy it if you're not familiar with Clint Eastwood's previous work. If you've heard his other music, you won't find this as pleasing.
