Music Review: Finally!

Over the past few years, Cissy's recorded output (both with The Sweet Inspirations and solo) has slowly been brought to CD. The notable exception has been her mid-1970s work with Michael Zager. This disc showcases two of her albums produced under his aegis. Her voice is at its tip-tip shape here, and her artistry, especially on the ballads, is extraordinary. One listen to "Things to Do," and you may well find shivers going up your spine, or tears coming to your eyes. "Think It Over," of course, will bring back those mirror-ball disco days when you couldn't spend an evening on the dance floor without sweating your tush off to that song. For the serious Cissy collector, this is a must, and for the more casual listener, it's a great introduction to a talent that's all too often overlooked, or overshadowed by her more famous daughter, Whitney. One listen to this collection and you'll know who the REAL Houston star is!
