Music Review: It does test...

all of the limits. As with any other Cirque production, you have to go in with your senses and your mind open. It was while seeing (another) live show that I wondered if Cirque would do such a show that would be more sensual to the (matured) adult. I wondered what the music would be. I was not disappointed. Many of the forms of music you'd hear in other Cirque CDs are in this show. It's the CONTEXT of eroticism that literally forces the listener to push beyond cultural, societal and self-imposed boundaries of acceptable sexual thought. But eroticism should not be substituted for the act. Some men might be put off by the CD because a few of the strong numbers are sung by women, which puts these females in a position of sexual control (not power). Granted, I even thought I could have done without some of the moans and whips but I do understand that this is reflective of the actual show. Give it another listen...in a quiet place, with an open mind and with open senses. Erase some of the corners of the boundaries...
----2009: I have one serious correction: the music is NOT reflective of the show. I had imagined a variety of acrobatic, dance and comedy acts based on the cd. I had the opportunity to see it and it was, unfortunately, most disappointing for me because based on the CD, I anticipated something different and something MORE. Instead -especially from my normal front row seat, I didn't hear ANY of the music UNTIL WE WERE LEAVING THE THEATRE. It was burlesque without the teasing; flashing of T&A that could be found at any hotel in the downtown Vegas area. It wasn't cerebral, it wasn't sensual. I wondered if I would be able to see another CdS show after that experience (thank heavens for KOOZA!).
