The daughter of renowned Cajun fiddler, Dewey Balfa, Christine Balfa was born with a silver 'tit fer (triangle) in her mouth. Fortunately, she was also born with innate charm, beauty and talent and was able to transform that cumbersome beginning into a gift she offers the world on Plays the Triangle. This masterly crafted CD (kudos to Valcour Records) is a must have for all triangle players and especially for wannabe triangle players. As James Blades writes in The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, "the triangle is by no means a simple instrument to play." Christine demonstrates her crackerjack skills with the strong beat of Cajun triangle playing on this CD, establishing her place among the world's most deft triangle players -Alphonse "Bois Sec" Ardoin, John Deacon of Queen, Moody Mascott of Kommando Trash, Joni Mitchell and, most of all, the angels depicted in paintings from the Middle Ages.
