Music Review: Most Essential & Most Influential Goth

This album jumped out at me while rifling through the 'new releases' in a forgotten metal/hardcore shop in Denver some 20+ years ago; thinking it was another late 80's death metal outfit, i rushed home & slapped it on the turntable to be blown away by a new style & sound which Christian Death (& later Rozz Williams Solo) went on to be the defining force up to the time of Rozz Williams' suicide. Blending very ominous vocals & religious themes with Rikk Agnew's excellent hardore-esque guitar work, the album simply cranks & remains a constant on my playlist today. To say this album influenced hundreds more bands is an understatement for sure. Later works by the band which lack Rozz & Rikk are not worth the listen. Also check out 'Ashes', another superb album by the original band.
